Presidential Election Concession Letter

08 November 2012

A Statement by Stewart Alexander, 2012 Socialist Party Candidate for President of the United States

President Obama:

Though the battle was not fair – I had no Super PAC, a billion dollars in campaign funds, daily access to the mainstream media, nor even ballot lines waiting for me – I concede defeat in this election and recognize your victory.

Over the last four years, you have managed to shield the Americans conscience, not only continuing the overall policies of George W Bush, but expanding upon them as well. I cringe in despair to think of how many Occupiers were falsely arrested or sprayed with mace because of your coordination with municipalities from the White House and then voted for you just the same. I fear what you will continue to do in order to intimidate various leftist groups with your interpretations of law which infringe upon the internationally accepted rights to free speech and thought. I shudder at your ability to convince anti-war activists to embrace war, civil libertarians to embrace tyranny, and labor activists to embrace corporate welfare and attacks on union workers....

Seniors Give Voters a Choice in California Election

Maggie Phair, 83-years-old played an integral role in organizing the write-in campaign effort, and Ann Alexander, 88-years-old followed the campaign volunteers to assure that all the write-in petitions were completed and notarized. On Tuesday, the California Secretary of State contacted the Alexander/Mendoza campaign with the good news: “The petitions are certified and the campaign is qualified for write-in.”

Who would have imagined that two great grandmothers in their 80s would make it possible for Californians to vote for a socialist ticket in the upcoming November General Election? Well, 88-year-old Ann Alexander and 83-year-old Maggie Phair made that all possible. Ann Alexander is the mother of Stewart Alexander, the Presidential nominee for the Socialist Party USA, and Maggie Phair is a lifelong socialist and political activist.

With only days before the California deadline to qualify as a California Write-In candidate for president, Presidential candidate Stewart Alexander collected the necessary Presidential Elector petition signatures to qualify as a Write-In presidential candidate. The signatures had to be collected from registered California voters and be individually notarized....

Pre-Election Message by Stewart Alexander

In some states, voters will be able to cast their vote to speak for the 99 percent and vote for Stewart Alexander for President and Alex Mendoza for Vice President. These voters will be on the frontline to revolt against a political system that is unfair and unjust; their votes will be a revolt against unfair ballot access laws that has rigged the entire political process to limit voter choice to the candidates of the two corporate parties.

A Statement by Stewart Alexander, Socialist Party Candidate for President of the United States

We are approaching the final days before the November 2012 General Election; and one year since the SPUSA nominated Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendoza for president and vice president, the Alexander/Mendoza presidential campaign has been able to reach out to millions of working people with a message of hope for real change that is only possible in a society that is established around the principles of socialism.

The Alexander/Mendoza campaign has sought to unveil the lies of the capitalists that has given working people a false sense of hope and security that has only enslaved the minds of working people; a false sense of hope that good paying jobs will be created; a false sense of hope that education will be affordable; a false sense of hope that access to affordable healthcare is possible; a false sense of hope for affordable housing; a false sense of hope that the nation will pursue peace, not war....

SPUSA Presidential Candidate Alexander Comments on Obama "Gaffe"

26 July 2012
Contact media [at] stewartalexanderforpresident2012.org

LOS ANGELES, CA -President Obama is facing a massive smear campaign by right wing forces for pointing out the interconnectedness of society and how those with the most are benefiting from society. The Socialist Party USA Presidential ticket of Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendoza agree with this sentiment while, at the same time, pointing out that President Obama’s record raises questions as to whether his sentiment is genuine.

“It is not a Marxist idea nor a socialist idea that members of society support one another,” explains Alexander. “Even Adam Smith said, ‘We shall be sensible that without the assistance and co-operation of many thousands, the very meanest person in a civilized country could not be provided, […] the easy and simple manner in which he is commonly accommodated.’ Only a sociopath could deny it though capitalism does its best to ignore it.”

Greens Challenge Third Parties, “Fight Against the Corporate Parties Not Each Other”

A Statement by Stewart Alexander, Socialist Party Candidate for President of the United States

8 July 2012

Running for President as a Third Party candidate is a tough gig. Out on the campaign trail we are always outspent by the Democrats and Republicans, opposed in court by their fancy lawyers and harassed by their, mostly paid, political representatives. Worst of all, both of these corporate funded parties rely on fundamentally undemocratic ballot access laws to ensure their own dominance. I take this for granted – the Democrats and Republicans will resort to any dirty trick necessary to fend off a challenge from Third Party candidates. The big surprise of this election season is that another Third Party, the Illinois Green Party, not the Democrats and Republicans are the ones resorting to dirty tricks....

Socialist Party Candidate Alexander Calls Obamacare Another Corporate Giveaway

Obama’s policy was based on the original sin of allowing the pharmaceutical companies off the hook. He then followed this up by pledging public funds to subsidize junk healthcare plans, coercing Americans into purchasing these plans and silencing the voices of single-payer healthcare advocates. Obamacare is not healthcare reform; it is just another corporate giveaway by the Obama administration.

29 June 2012

Socialist Party USA Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander condemned the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the provisions of the President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Calling it a “corporate restructuring of the healthcare system in America,” Alexander pointed to the many inequities that are built into to the new system. He highlighted the need for a fully socialized healthcare system that guarantees access to high quality healthcare as a human right....

Socialist Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander Condemns Coup in Paraguay

The impeachment of President Lugo was a coup carried out by Conservative forces in the Congress against the will of the people of Paraguay,”

27 June 2012

Socialist Party USA Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander condemns the removal of the democratically elected President of Paraguay Fernando Lugo. Alexander describes the removal by Congressional impeachment as an illegitimate coup. He calls upon the Paraguayan Congress to restore President Lugo and condemns US President Barack Obama for not strongly denouncing the undemocratic maneuver.

“The impeachment of President Lugo was a coup carried out by Conservative forces in the Congress against the will of the people of Paraguay,” Alexander stated. “Despite this undemocratic action and the wishes of the US government to force out a leftist leader, there will be no going back in Latin America. The people’s voice will be heard and the popular movements in the region will restore democracy through the class struggle....”

Stewart Alexander Deciphers Latest Jobs Report

03 June 2012

The Socialist Party USA Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander says that the most recent jobs report represents the bankruptcy of Obama’s economic policy

The Socialist Party USA Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander says that the most recent jobs report represents the bankruptcy of Obama’s economic policy. The report included an increase in the unemployment rate to 8.2% and indicates a lull in job creation for the first quarter.

Alexander proposes a public employment program that will use public funds to put unemployed Americans back to work. This plan is the opposite of the course chosen by Obama, who lavished the banks and private companies with money as a part of his bailout program....

Los Angeles, CA – President Obama announced recently that he is personally for same-sex marriage, but believes the decision should be left up to the states. Socialist Party Presidential Ticket Defends Public Workforce; Defends the US Postal Service

Los Angeles, CA – The past few years have been marked by attacks on the public workers. In states such as Wisconsin, Republicans attacked the right of state employees to collectively bargain; in states such as Massachusetts, the Democrats did the same. Federal employees faced a two year pay freeze, despite rising wages in the private sector, followed by a hike in pension contributions for new employees, including those that have been federally employed for up to five years. The United States Postal Service is looking at turning back services and potentially laying off 80,000 workers due to a manufactured budget shortfall. The Socialist Party USA ticket of Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendoza say that this is part of a larger attack upon the working class for the benefit of the wealthiest 1%.

Socialist Response to the State of the Union

Obama’s State of the Union - Too Little Too Late

A Statement by Stewart Alexander, Socialist Party Candidate for President of the United States

25 January 2012

The phrase that came to mind immediately upon hearing President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech is “too little, too late.” After spending the last few years coddling the banks and the richest 1%, Obama has the nerve to now call for “economic fairness.” To him, this means tweaking payroll taxes and making a rhetorical call to reverse the Bush tax cuts for the rich. For working people in America real fairness means the right to a job, a guarantee of healthcare for all and an end to the Military Industrial Complex. Obama won’t deliver this. That’s why I am running for President against him...

Los Angeles, CA – The Socialist Party USA’s Presidential ticket of Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendoza call for the immediate release of Private Breanna Manning and the dismissal of all charges against her. Socialist Party USA’s Alexander / Mendoza Campaign Calls Jobs Report a Holiday Mirage

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
17 January 2012
Contact: Lynn Lomibao
Email: media@stewartalexanderforpresident2012.org

Los Angeles, CA – The Socialist Party USA Presidential Ticket of Stewart Alexander and Alex Mendoza are expecting a very poor February jobs report after reading the report released on January 6. They note that good jobs are still giving way to poor ones and jobs gained appeared to be directly tied to the holiday season – in particular the massive consumerism revolving around Christmas and the short time beyond. They hold to their message that capitalism is failing Americans.

Stewart Alexander Calls for an End to Attacks on Occupy Movement

Stewart Alexander
2012 Socialist Party Presidential Candidate
15 November 2011

Los Angeles, CA – Socialist Party USA Presidential Candidate, Stewart Alexander opposes the recent assault on the Occupy movement in cities across the United States. He draws attention to the fact that it was largely the result of the decisions of elected Democrats. Freedom of expression is central to democracy and he believes that we must strengthen our commitment to civil liberties...

“Remember well who is behind these assaults on you,” urges Stewart Alexander, presidential nominee for the Socialist Party USA. “These are the men and women who are bought and sold like commodities by corporations. These are not just Republican officials, but also the Democratic Party that are assaulting your rights to free speech. Your calls for social and economic justice do not sit well with their owners. When the Democrats try to sweet talk you into believing they support the 99%: forget their words and remember their actions....”
